What were you doing....

10 years ago today?

You were watching Jordan lead the Bulls, Aikmen and the Cowboys, and wondering if the Yankees could get back to the World Series in the next few years... you probably went to see Fargo or Jerry Maguire, heard Seal's Kiss From a Rose for the first of 6 million times, and wondered if Tupac had recorded anything new before he was shot... you wondered if Tyson vs. Holyfield would be exciting, and you cast a vote for President Clinton, wishing him a smooth, uneventful second term.

For some reason I don't remember any of that stuff, because ten years ago today I was nervous, excited, so happy my cheeks hurt, and walking down the aisle of the Graceland Wedding Chapel to marry The Most Wonderful and Beautiful Woman in The World... and while we had planned, 10 years, 2 kids, and a mortgage ago to spend this glorious anniversary celebrating among the lights of Paris, I hope she knows how blessed and lucky and privileged I feel to be her husband, and to be able to tell her Happy Anniversary no matter where in the world we are.

First of all, congratulations.

Secondly, I'm not sure which of the two of you got the better deal. I think that's a good thing.

Thirdly, I looked for your wedding video on the link provided but coudn't find anything. What's the point of going there if you don't get a video of the two of you with the big E?

Fourthly, I'd love to go back to France. If it's easier to keep a commitment when other people are involved, why don't we make it a foursome and go in 2008?

Unlike the crass, superficial Hollywood/rock stars people in the photos, our experience with "the big E" was more intimate -- he came to us dressed as the common man, indistinguishable on the street, save the muttonchops, and touched our hearts with his personal blessing before the ceremony. Besides, do you know how much He charges to don the jumpsuit and mug for photos?!?!?!?

As for Paris, sounds like a plan magnifique! 2008 may be too soon, due to my state of unemployment, but if I start doing fund-raising car washes on the weekends we might swing it....
